Realme 10 Pro Plus vs Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus

Realme 10 Pro Plus vs Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus

Today I'll be comparing two of the most hyped mid-range phones of 2023 the Realme 10 Pro Plus and the Redmi note 12 Pro Plus and will tell you which one is a better value. Overall both of them area for a very similar price and in fact they have very similar specs too. So it's understandable if many of you are confused about which one to get but don't worry I am here to clear that confusion before that just some quick information about how this article is gonna go. I will be awarding points for each category and I will put down the score somewhere here so that you have a clear idea regarding who's winning throughout.

Design

So let's start shall we okay kicking things off with the design it's clear that realme has taken a different route this time while the redmi note 12 Pro Plus looks good enough for the price the realme 10 Pro Plus with its curvy sides and attractive color options has more distinguished visual Aesthetics.  I will admit that going with a plastic back was not the best decision by real me but even so the phone looks and feels good on the hands. More importantly it's lighter and sleeker in comparison to the redmi note 12 Pro Plus as well despite both phones featuring 5000 milliamp hour batteries. So I have to give score to realme guys its design is definitely better. I simply cannot disregard the fact that xiaomi has included a few extras here like an IR blaster uh 3.5 mm headphone jack and ip53 rating which are things that can come really handy and are important to many of us so I think it's more than fair to give redme a point.

Display

Moving on to the display side of things. I have used both these phones and their displays are really good actually I'm quite happy that brands have started including premium quality panels even in mid-range ones. Now coming to the specs you get HDI 10 plus certification and over 1 billion colors on both of them whereas neither of them misses out on a smooth 120 hertz refresh rate either even in terms of brightness I found negligible differences among them. Xiaomi also offers Dolby Vision support on Netflix which is missing on the realme 10 Pro. Other than that as I said before both phones have good displays. For the price but personally I like the one on the realme Pro Plus more. Because it's using curved sides which means just navigation feels relatively more natural here. It just feels great and you have a better grip on the device too. Plus you're getting a wider screen to body ratio and its bezels are barely noticeable. Additionally I prefer having a fingerprint sensor embedded into the screen rather than a capacitive one whereas realme is offering additional features like 2160hz pwm dimming as well. The temporal plus certainly Takes the Cake as far as display is concerned.

Speakers

Both phones feature a stereo speaker setup to complement their displays. Realme speakers are louder and the vocals sound really good too but when listening to music I did notice some Distortion at the highest volume. Here although this is not a problem while watching movies and all. On the other hand the audio on the redmi Note 2 Pro Plus is not as loud but it does sound cleaner more balanced and there's no Distortion of any sort either. So overall I like redmi stereo speakers better here.  So another point is goes to Redmi.

Performance

let's move to the performance side of things last year's realme 9 Pro Plus and the redmi note 11 Pro Plus featured the same Diamensity 925g chip and this year both of them have followed that up with the new diamensity 1080 processor. So with the same chipset at Helm their performance levels are very similar to. At least when it comes to normal day-to-day activities I do not notice any kind of delay here be it in terms of app opening or even heavy multitasking. RAM management is also incredibly good which means everyday tasks on either phone is not a problem at all. It's safe to say that you will get a similar experience overall.

Gaming

when it comes to gaming though I will favor the redmi note 12 Pro Plus. Before explaining why first I want you to understand that the diamensity 1080 by no means is a chipset suitable for heavy gaming however I did do a thorough gaming test so that you guys can know how far these phones can go and here are my findings. In all the games I tried I found the redmi note 12 Pro Plus to have better stability and sustained performance especially if you're playing demanding games like ancient impact in the highest of settings.

The Note 2 Pro Plus manages noticeably better thermals too. Since it features a large Vapor chamber cooling solution. The realme 10 Pro Plus on the other hand does not have any such kind of cooling system in place which is really surprising because last year's realmi 9 Pro Plus did have an effective Vapor chamber cooling system.  As a result when playing games and impact for long sessions on both the phones the surface temperature on the redmi Note 12 Pro Plus never went above 35 degrees Celsius whereas the realme 10 Pro Plus reached around 40 degree Celsius.

I know that is not a lot but you also have to consider that it's winter right now so things will get more Stevie during summer. It's not just about the FPS or temperature either Xiaomi has also optimized games like Injustice 2 odd bar and Alto's Odyssey to run at higher FPS. While realme has failed to do so, therefore even though normal performance is Nick and Nick on either of them. The redmi Note 2 Pro Plus takes charge in the gaming Department which is why it leads the overall performance aspect too.

Software

But when it comes to user experience software plays an equally important role and we know that bothbreal me and MIUI are notorious for ads bloatware apps and that kind of stuff in their UI especially in their mid-range devices. When you get these phones then first thing I will advise you to do is disable all the app recommendations and remove all the bloatware so that you can have a cleaner soccer experience. You get real me UI 4.0 based on Android 13 on the real me 10 Pro Plus while the Redmi note 12 Pro Plus is still stuck Android 12 which I think is simply not acceptable for a phone that just launched in 2023.

Redmi has confirmed two years of further OS updates and four years of security patches for the tour Pro Plus but that only means that the phone sees the Android 14 update and that's it. On the other hand realme says the 10 Pro Plus will also get two years of OS updates. Although it will receive one less year of security patches which kind of evens out the score. I have to say though I like the experience of using realme UI more it's lighter simpler and I get along with it quite well compared to MIUI which I feel has been needing a revamp for quite some time despite years of redesigns and stuff MIUI feels almost the same. its finally time for some more needed change even when it comes to UI optimization. I think realme has done a slightly better job for instance when using Auto refresh rate mode. The 10 Pro Plus tends to detect static content better in apps like Netflix by switching to a 60hz refresh rate. Whereas the note 12 Pro Plus keeps things steady at 120 hertz and I like how while using social media apps like Facebook and Twitter realme switches to 90hz. This does not take much away from the experience and it helps conserve battery to some level so on the software front I am sliding with Realme.

Haptics

Now when talking about things that make the user experience better. I believe haptics play an important role too and once again it's real me with the gold medal. The realme 9 Pro Plus had great haptics so it does not come as a surprise that realme has done it again. Not that Redmi’s vibration feedback is bad or anything but realme is just better and it's crisp and apart from adjusting vibration intensity you also get so many options like choosing between softer or crisper feedback.

Cameras

let's  talk about one of the most crucial aspects of a smartphone the cameras. When I started testing these phones I was quite curious to know which one would perform better and I am sure you guys are waiting for the result too. Both the Redmi Note 2 Pro Plus and the Realme 10 Pro Plus come with a triple camera setup at the back. Redmi has gone with a massive 200 megapixel Samsung HP X primary sensor which has OIS by the way and 8 megapixel Ultra wide and a 2 megapixel macro lens. On the other hand realme decided to go with a 108m Samsung hm6 sensor along with a 8 megapixel ultra wide and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. Unlike the Note 2 Pro Plus there is no OIS in its primary cameras though. So which one takes better photos you ask well that depends on what of the day you're taking the picture because during the daytime BHA normal or portrait shots the realme 10 Pro Plus tends to do a better job. Its photos look livelier. They have better contrast and they maintain decent details. I found its portraits to maintain better skin tone too. And again the exposure on subject is processed better here versus the note to a Pro Plus but that good skin tone and highlight management do not apply to selfies. I feel like the Selfies from the realme 10 Pro Plus are a bit washed out. I mean my skin looks very pale in all of the Selfies I took with this one while the Redmi Note 2 Pro Plus definitely works better for me about the regular nighttime shorts. The OIS on the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus Makes sure the photos look Sharper. Realme's Image is generally tend to overdo the colors and the processing looks a bit too much even night mode pictures as you can see are better from the note 12 Pro Plus. Video wise you get slightly better stabilization on the Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus at 4K 30fps while realme's output looks a bit too shaky at 1080p 30fps 2 redmi maintains better steadier footages with a bit of cropping magic. The overall quality looks better here too for selfie videos. You have the option to shoot at up to 1080 to 60 FPS from the redmi note 12 Pro Plus but at that resolution the stabilization is not very good so you will have to ultimately dial it down to 1080p 30 fps to get a usable output and at that resolution the footages from the realme 10 Pro Plus are not bad either.

Battery

Finally as I said in the very beginning both these phones feature a Big 5 000 milliamp hour battery and I have to tell you that their endurance is pretty great as well both of them are pretty aggressive in terms of battery optimization. So in normal kind of usage they manage a good full day of usage without any trouble but when it comes to charging though the redmi note 12 Pro Plus with its 120 watt charging support certainly has an edge it can fully juice up the phone in around 20 minutes while that 67 watt charging on the real me 10 Pro Plus takes a good 45 to 50 minutes for a complete refill.

Okay looks like we have a winner congratulations to the Redmi note 12 Pro Plus. The competition was very tough though and the real me 10 Pro plus is not a bad phone in its price range in any way. I just think the company's decision to remove OIS and Vapor chamber cooling has backfired in a Toe to Toe comparison with the redmi note 12 Pro Plus but in the end score does not matter it all boils down to your preference if you want to go for a more good looking phone with a bit of everything the real me 10 Pro Plus is a good deal too whereas the redmi note 12 Pro Plus is a phone that takes all the boxes. And if you're looking for something with good gaming capabilities instead both these options might not be what you need in that case I would suggest you go for the Redmi key 50i or the Poco F4 instead. And if you're looking for a better overall value I suggest you to go with the redmi note 12 Pro instead of the expensive 12 Pro Plus.

Alright guys this was my full in-depth comparison of the real me 10 Pro Plus and the redmi Note 2 Pro Plus which one would you go for do let me know in the comments and while you're there don't forget to follow.
